How to make the most out of your family photo session in a Mexican Beach.

So you have decided to hire a photographer to make some amazing pictures of your family during your vacation to one of many beautiful beaches in Mexico. Perfect plan! Now, I’d like to share with you some super useful tips I’ve learned during my experience as a working photographer in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit that will make your pictures look better, as well as make the experience pleasant, too.

Consider the time of the day and season.

The most basic pillar of any photography is the lightning, and, as you might be planning on some outdoor shots, the time of the day will change dramatically the look of your photos. Usually, we, photographers prefer to work early in the morning  -a bit later than sunrise- or late in the afternoon – close to the sunset- as the quality of light is better and make wonderful backgrounds like the spectacular sunsets in the Pacific Coast.

 

Take into consideration what to wear.

Of course, you want to look awesome in your pictures, and one of the easiest way to help your photographer to accomplish that goal is what you decide to wear.

In terms of your clothes, I always suggest that it has to be comfortable so you can enjoy the whole process – however, try to avoid very loose garments -. In regards to colors, light plain ones work the best. White is welcome but could be difficult to handle in very bright situations or if your skin tone is dark.

Finally, I usually ask my clients, if their session is happening some days after they arrived at the destination is to use sunscreen lotion, mainly on the face in order to prevent severe sunburn marks.

 

Be open to different ideas.

It is totally understandable that you decided to get your pictures taken on the beach as part of the vacation, however, you could be surprised with the beauties and interesting spots you might haven’t heard about but your photographer has. From different landscapes to architectural gems or places that represent the local tradition. If you agree in going that direction it is very likely that your pictures have that unique taste of the unexpected.

Finally… ENJOY YOURSELF (SELVES)!

… bienvenido 2014

Sin hacer gala alguna de originalidad ni creatividad, quiero hacer un último post para darle la despedida a un 2013 que, me imagino, para muchos estuvo lleno de retos, de incertidumbres, miedos e inseguridades, por que así fue para mí, principalmente en lo profesional: tratar de consolidar un proyecto que si bien arrancó con todo el cariño y con el objetivo claro de  contribuir resguardando los recuerdos de aquellas personas quienes me permiten compartir un momento de sus vidas, creando fotografías llenas de una chispa especial; no tenía el respaldo financiero ni la planificación precisa que un paso así requería.

Y sin embargo, aquí estoy, con el agradecimiento a todos y cada una de las personas quienes han confiado en mi y quienes me han obsequiado tanto: de conocer sus historias personales , en muchas ocasiones, de divertirnos, y de hacerlos revivir una parte de sus momentos más especiales, etc.

En este trayecto he aprendido muchas cosas  y redescubierto el verdadero significado de otras tantas, y una de las que más resuenan es el agradecimiento, y por ello quiero cerrar este ciclo compartiendo las fotografías que mis colegas Stephanie Finch , Eder Acevedo y un servidor obsequiamos a las familias de una organización muy peculiar: Pasitos de Luz, un grupo de gente valiente y entregada que sin costo alguno provee servicios de cuidado y rehabilitación a pequeñitos con capacidades especiales, físicas y mentales.  Estar ahí me ayudó de muchas formas, una, para estar agradecido por las múltiples bendiciones que día a día tengo: mi familia, la salud, mi trabajo; y también para re evaluar el poder que tiene la actividad que hago,  nosotros los fotógrafos somos magos: tenemos la capacidad de congelar el tiempo y guardar emociones, miradas, vida en una imagen.

Sin mucho más que agregar, doy, nuevamente gracias a un 2013 por todo el aprendizaje y digo: BIENVENIDO 2014!

Tener la mejor intención no basta.

En mis otras redes sociales, y en los contactos hacia mis clientes, no me canso de decir que tanto me gusta esta carrera que escogí, lo mucho que aprecio su preferencia y cómo entiendo la gran responsabilidad que me confieren para registrar las memorias de un momento que es irrepetible y único.

Y con esa mentalidad y emoción me dirijo a cada boda, a cada sesión. Lamentablemente, aunque la gran parte de las veces todo resulta como lo espero, hay ocasiones en que tener esa disposición y hacer lo mejor que puedo no basta. Esos momentos me causan gran dolor, pero sobre todo me dejan lecciones a las cuales doy la bienvenida y me comprometo, más aún, a seguir mejorando como fotógrafo, y como persona.

No puedo decir que no he caído, pero sí puedo decir que me he levantado y lo seguiré haciendo, por que tengo grandes motivos para hacerlo.

Si nos tomáramos un minuto…

Tuve la oportunidad de visitar al monstruo – la enérgica e intimidatoria ciudad de México- lugar donde hace algunas décadas nací, pero de la que me he distanciado, más en espíritu que físicamente. No sé si sea por ello que, cada vez, la encuentro más deshumanizada, más indiferente, a pesar de ello no me deja de sorprender, para bien y para mal. Intenté, tanto como pude, mirarla con ojos frescos y vi tantas historias ocurriendo, dando forma a un bordado enorme que sólo parece un entramado sin forma, caótico y sin sentido.

En medio de todo eso, observe como dos amantes, se disponían a expresar abiertamente sus sentimientos, a pesar de saber que la mirada inquisidora de quienes ostentan un halo postizo de divinidad, se cernía aplastante sobre ellas, y escuché como consideraban huir a lugares donde su amor no fuese condenado. Vi la vulnerabilidad y el cansancio en los ojos de quien se supone debe mantenerse firme no sólo para ejercer su oficio sino para soportar el progresivo deterioro de la imagen de su gremio. Capté en mi mente la mirada extraviada de una atractiva joven que lo mismo pensaba en todo y en nada.

Historias de estas fueron y vinieron, se pasearon libremente, sin darse la oportunidad, siquiera, de encontrarse una con la otra…
